First Antarctic Expedition:

In 1901, Shackleton joined the Discovery Expedition led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott. As third officer aboard the ship Discovery, Shackleton played a vital role in scientific research and exploration. The Nimrod Expedition:

In 1907, Shackleton returned to Antarctica as leader of his own expedition, known as the Nimrod Expedition. The goal of this expedition was to reach the South Pole, an elusive prize that had yet to be claimed. Despite battling extreme cold, hazardous terrain, and dwindling supplies, Shackleton and his team made significant progress, reaching a record-breaking latitude of 88 degrees 23 minutes south.
