From Vienna to Shanghai: A Journey Through Central Asia
In 2019, I embarked on a journey from Vienna, Austria to Shanghai, China. I traveled by train, bus, and car, and I crossed through nine countries: Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and China. Along the way, I met amazing people, tasted delicious food, and saw some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

My journey began in Vienna, a city known for its music, art, and architecture. I spent a few days exploring the city, visiting the Hofburg Palace, the Schönbrunn Palace, and the Vienna State Opera. I also took a carriage ride through the city center and enjoyed a traditional Viennese pastry at a local café.
From Vienna, I took a train to Budapest, Hungary. Budapest is a beautiful city with a rich history. I visited the Buda Castle, the Hungarian Parliament Building, and the Great Market Hall. I also took a boat tour down the Danube River and enjoyed a traditional Hungarian goulash at a local restaurant.
From Budapest, I took a bus to Bucharest, Romania. Bucharest is a bustling city with a vibrant nightlife. I visited the Palace of the Parliament, the Romanian Athenaeum, and the Village Museum. I also took a walk through the Lipscani district and enjoyed a traditional Romanian sarmale at a local restaurant.
From Bucharest, I took a train to Sofia, Bulgaria. Sofia is a charming city with a rich history. I visited the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Boyana Church, and the National Historical Museum. I also took a walk through the Vitosha Nature Park and enjoyed a traditional Bulgarian banitsa at a local restaurant.
From Sofia, I took a bus to Istanbul, Turkey. Istanbul is a vibrant city with a rich history. I visited the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Topkapi Palace. I also took a boat tour down the Bosphorus Strait and enjoyed a traditional Turkish kebab at a local restaurant.
From Istanbul, I took a flight to Tehran, Iran. Tehran is a modern city with a rich history. I visited the Golestan Palace, the National Museum of Iran, and the Azadi Tower. I also took a walk through the Grand Bazaar and enjoyed a traditional Iranian chelo kebab at a local restaurant.
From Tehran, I took a train to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Ashgabat is a modern city with a rich history. I visited the Independence Monument, the Neutrality Arch, and the National Museum of Turkmenistan. I also took a walk through the city center and enjoyed a traditional Turkmen plov at a local restaurant.
From Ashgabat, I took a train to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Tashkent is a modern city with a rich history. I visited the Amir Timur Square, the Khast Imam Complex, and the Chorsu Bazaar. I also took a walk through the city center and enjoyed a traditional Uzbek plov at a local restaurant.
From Tashkent, I took a train to Xi'an, China. Xi'an is a historic city with a rich history. I visited the Terracotta Warriors, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and the Muslim Quarter. I also took a walk through the city center and enjoyed a traditional Chinese dumpling at a local restaurant.
From Xi'an, I took a train to Shanghai, China. Shanghai is a modern city with a rich history. I visited the Bund, the Shanghai Tower, and the Yu Garden. I also took a walk through the city center and enjoyed a traditional Chinese soup dumpling at a local restaurant.
My journey from Vienna to Shanghai was an amazing experience. I saw some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, met amazing people, and tasted delicious food. I also learned a lot about different cultures and ways of life. I would highly recommend this journey to anyone who is looking for an adventure.
