George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He was the eldest son of Augustine and Mary Ball Washington. His father was a wealthy planter and surveyor, and his mother was a devout Christian.

Washington received a basic education at home, focusing on subjects such as reading, writing, arithmetic, and surveying. He was also an avid reader and spent much of his time studying history, geography, and military strategy.

Military Career

Retirement and Legacy

After retiring from public office, Washington returned to his home at Mount Vernon, Virginia. He spent his remaining years farming and managing his estate. He died on December 14, 1799, at the age of 67.
