The First Thanksgiving
The first Thanksgiving was held in 1621 between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians. The Pilgrims were a group of English settlers who had recently arrived in America. They were starving and sick, and the Wampanoag Indians helped them to survive. As a way of saying thank you, the Pilgrims invited the Wampanoag Indians to a feast. This feast is now known as the first Thanksgiving.
The first Thanksgiving was a three-day event. The Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians ate, played games, and told stories. They also gave thanks for the harvest and for their friendship.
