Six Women Stand Together In A Field, Their Faces Determined And Defiant. They Are Dressed In Simple Clothing, And Their Hair Is Pulled Back From Their Faces. The Background Is A Dark Forest, And The Women Are Surrounded By A Faint Glow Of Light. Six Women Of Salem: The Untold Story Of The Accused And Their Accusers In The Salem Witch Trials

In the spring of 1692, the Massachusetts Bay Colony was gripped by a wave of terror that would forever alter its history. The Salem witch trials, one of the darkest chapters in American history, saw over 200 people accused of witchcraft, and 20 executed. Among those accused were six women whose stories are told in Stacy Schiff's haunting and immersive historical novel, Six Women of Salem.

Schiff brings to life the stories of these six women with vivid detail and empathy. We meet Rebecca Nurse, a pillar of her community who is falsely accused of witchcraft by a vengeful neighbor. We meet Abigail Williams, a young woman who is possessed by the devil and accuses innocent people of witchcraft. We meet Ann Putnam, a wealthy and influential woman who uses the trials to settle old scores. We meet Mary Warren, a young servant girl who turns against her former master and testifies against him in court. We meet Sarah Good, a homeless beggar who is accused of witchcraft because she is different. And we meet Elizabeth Proctor, the wife of a prominent farmer who is accused of witchcraft because she is strong-willed and independent.

These six women are from different walks of life, but they are all united by their courage in the face of adversity. They are accused of witchcraft, but they refuse to confess. They are tortured, but they do not break. They are condemned to death, but they die with dignity.

Six Women of Salem is a powerful and moving story of courage, betrayal, and the crucible of witchcraft. Schiff has written a masterpiece of historical fiction that will haunt readers long after they finish the last page.
