Buzz Aldrin's Journey to the Moon

Buzz Aldrin was born in 1930 in Montclair, New Jersey. He always dreamed of becoming an astronaut, and after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, he joined the Air Force. In 1963, he was selected to be a member of the Apollo 11 mission, which would become the first manned mission to land on the moon.

On July 20, 1969, Aldrin and his fellow astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, launched into space aboard the Apollo 11 spacecraft. Four days later, they entered lunar orbit. On July 20, 1969, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the moon. They spent two hours and thirty-one minutes exploring the lunar surface, collecting samples of rocks and soil, and setting up experiments.
